The Bright Emporium

Hi there! My agency, The Bright Agency have now opened 'The Bright Emporium'! The Bright Emporium is a space to celebrate and acknowledge illustration, where children and families can appreciate and discover this creative journey in a fun and variable environment. It has a gallery space to show The Bright artist's work and also has work shop opportunities; It is a showroom to all books and even more importantly their illustrative content as a platform for inspiration. The Emporium is an opportunity for children and parents to connect with the creative content of books and celebrate their favourite stories. They can meet authors, buy artwork; take a bit of a book home. The core purpose of this gallery space is to communicate that stories evoke emotions and inspire you. This is very exciting and great to be a part of!

Hello, sorry it has been a while since my last post, I am currently working very busily on a new children's book! I can't say too much about it just yet! But I will post as soon as it is complete :)

Here is a little illustration I made recently for my Mum's birthday. It is a 'Birthday Bee'...and also a 'busy bee'!

Classic Treasury Princess Tales

Here is something new I have been working on. I illustrated two small vignettes on The Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Frog Prince' for Miles Kelly's 'Classic Tales Princess Treasury'.
Both are painted in acrylics.
I also painted five backgrounds (for text to be placed over), in a water colour effect which has lots of drips and splashes! I wanted to create a soft 'fairy-like' and pretty look to them.
And five 'ribbon' borders which will also frame the text. The ribbon borders have soft 'confetti' teeny tiny shapes around them. So sweet :)

I Love Cats

I recently rescued five beautiful kittens (about 2 weeks old. 3 boys and 2 girls) which were found in a cardboard box without their mummy. I became foster mum for a few hours and brought them home to be fed and kept warm before they were taken to be nursed and re-homed by the RSPCA.
Yes, I cried :(

I hope they all find good homes filled with love. <3
Bless these sweet little babies.

The Brother's Grimm Fairy Tales

Hello there! Last year I worked on a set of eight book covers to illustrate 'The Brother's Grimm Fairy Tales' for Miles Kelly publishers......And  here they are!!....All published.

The fairy tales which I illustrated are: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, The Frog Prince, Rapunzel, The Elves and the Shoemaker, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel and Sleeping Beauty. I used acrylic paint and pencil crayon on all of the covers. They are beautiful, and I am really happy with them.

At the printing stage, glitter has been embossed over some of the details in my illustrations.
So very pretty and sparkly! :) The outer edges of the covers have been printed with a 'watercolour paper' type of texture.

I also illustrated a ribbon border which was used throughout the book covers to frame my illustrations. The ribbon border is also on the back of the books to frame the text on the back.

And throughout the interior of the books, my illustrated borders were also used to frame the text.

Below shows how one of the illustrations develops from sketch to final piece.

The books can be purchased individually or as a set of eight books which come in a beautiful bag. I must add that the illustration on the bag was illustrated by Polona Kosec.

The full set of eight books can also be purchased individually

The books have a protective plastic bag

I recently made these cute watercolour paintings of my cats for my mum on mother's day. I think they are really pretty.

I found this really sweet Mother's Day card and just had to put one of my illustrations in it! I made a couple of sketches, using a brown watercolour pencil......Sweeeeeeeeeet!!! :D
